This was ORCA's first meet outside of the Corvallis area. I hope you all enjoyed running on a new map! Yes, Alton-Baker is a city park, but, as always, there were plenty of nooks and crannies to tease your skills, and the addition of Skinner Butte provided an extra twist. I decided to thoroughly christen the map by setting the longest course I could. That
seemed to be appreciated, though I apologise for the rather extreme number 21. It was rumoured that I added that one just in case Mal turned up, but the truth is that those blackberries grew up so much in the last few weeks that they took me by surprise, I swear!

There is still more to Alton-Baker. The wilder, eastern two-thirds was off-limits to us because of nesting birds, but may be available for orienteering at other times of year. Thank you to the City of Eugene for letting us hold the meet. Many thanks also to all who helped on the day, and especially to Erik and Marjo who fed me and gave me a place to sleep during mapping trips to Eugene.
