National Orienteering Day

Skinner Butte Park Results

Eugene, Oregon

September 20 , 2003

Maybe we had our work cut out competing with both the Eugene Celebration and the Michigan football game.  Nevertheless, some of you did find your way through the crowds and even found a place to park!  It was good to see a number of first-timers, as that's what National Orienteering Day is all about.

Congratulations to you all for getting around your first orienteering course.  If you felt abuzz of satisfaction each time you found a control, then we hope to see you again!

Next meets put on by ORCA (www.forestrunner.com/orca) and our sisterclub CROC (www.croc.org) will be

Oct 11 Extreme-O.  Champoeg, St Paul, OR (CROC )
Oct 25 Vampire-O.  Sherwood, OR (CROC )
Nov 02 OSU campus, Corvallis, OR (ORCA )
Nov 09 Lacamas Lake, Camas, WA (CROC )
Dec 13 Bald Hill, Corvallis, OR (ORCA )

Eric enjoying the beautiful weather.

All will have courses at beginners' level, with both the extreme-O and vampire-O having extra twists to the orienteering theme.

Thanks to those who helped out with the meet (Erik, Jeff, Paula, Larry, Ben and Jody), to NOD sponsors Brunton and Maptech for providing the door prizes, and to Eugene Parks.
