The weather held out until the end, and we had a great time at this year's
Avery Park meet. Nearly 60 people turned out for running, hiking, and soaking
up the sun. This was our last official meet in Corvallis for the summer, but
CROC will be hosting a meet at Lacamas Lake on July 10th. And for some really
great orienteering challenges, come visit the Pacific Northwest Orienteering
Festival this August in Bend. It'll be a blast!
I choose to design this year's orange course with the feel of a Sprint-O in
mind. Twenty people choose to take part in the sprint-orange course, and the
winning time went to Andy Dale at 22 minutes flat. The yellow course was very
popular this year, with over 30 competitors. The speediest yellow course time
went to Erik Torniainen and his copilot - but did they gain an advantage by
running it in reverse? The fastest of those who went forward went to Arther
and Nathalie Ayre. We also had some newer orienteers decide to try out the
white course, where Jaime Fuller put up a blistering pace of 13 minutes and
49 seconds.
Finally, I need to extend a huge thaks to everyone who helped out at this
meet. Ed, Paula, George, Andy, Larry, and Jessica. I really appreciate it!
