Battling mud, grey skies, and 6-foot long snakes (or 3 feet long, depending
on which eagle-eyed boy scout you asked!) was no problem for all those who
ventured out. We had Boy Scout Troop 20 who made it from Salem to try the
yellow course. The course was sloppy in places from the recent rains, but
we managed to avoid heavy casualties in the swampy and blackberry-infested
parts of the map. Some recreational participants even got a chance to take
in a
little league game between controls 4 and 5 on the yellow course. The orange
course was tightly contested, with George Hetenyi beating Ben Legg by a mere
27 seconds. Holda Biskeborn had the fastest time on the yellow course in her
first ever orienteering event. Thanks again to Jessica, George, Ben, and Andy
for helping with registration, starts, and finishes.
